We have an enterprise GIS using Oracle 11g as the dbase and versioning. Some of our remote offices are very remote and have very slow (dialup speed) connectivity and using SDE connections is painful (2 minutes for refreshes). We've tried check-in/check-out but that is not working too well either. Very large downloads (100MB or greater) once a week and edits aren't always saved (haven't figured that one out yet).

Looking for other options. If you're doing something similar, how do you do this?

ArcGIS Server 10 sp5, clients using ArcCatalog/ArcMap 10 sp5

Thanks

Have you looked into ArcGIS Amazon Cloud computing or using CITRIX? If you are doing simple editing, then using the ArcGIS Server Web APIs may also be an option. The workstations need a fast connection to the data so using desktop to edit SDE data over a dial up connection won't work.
