Failed to Register as Versioned

In Arcatalog, as the schema owner I selected 'Register As versioned' with the option to move edits to base. I get the 'Failed to register as versioned, table already exists' error.

I executed the sdetable register tool for a specific layer and it returns that the layer is already registered.

In oracle the Adds and Delete tables do not exist for this feature class.

I attempted to unregister the layer but received an error stating other objects had dependencies on the object.

Backgroud:
The data came from our old database which was on another server. This data was versioned. Each layer was exported to a file gdb first, then loaded into the new db.

Oracle 11.2.0.2
ArcSde 10sp3

have you tried deleting the table and reimport, then register as version ? backup data first though.
