Promoting services from test to production- what is the best practices for promoting services and keeping pathnames intact, even though they are pointing to a different source. Not only the server we are publishing to but the source data as well. Example below

What do we need to do to allow an agency admin to publish to CAT/Test using CATSQL Geodatabase as its source data. Then pass on to us a service definition that I can then publish to Production using ProductionSQL Geodatabase as its data source.

System aliases to UNC paths for connection files, system alias on databases, registered connections in server, map services, application configurations...

Update stuff and have network admins transfer system aliases to the updated environment.
