DynamicMappingHost - service not starting

Hi Team,

We are experiencing an issue where the DynamicMappingHost service is not starting from either ArcGIS Server Manager or from the ArcGIS Server Admin page

ArcGIS Version - 12.1

The troubleshooting steps performed:

1) Attempted to start the DynamicMappingHost service from ArcGIS Server Manager, but the service failed to start

2) Attempted to start the service from the ArcGIS Server Administrator Directory, but the same issue occurred.

3) Restarted the ArcGIS Server Windows service

4) Restarted the ArcGIS Server hosting VM

5) Attempted to deploy the new DynamicMappingHost services and trying tostart the newly deployed service but failed.

6) Also increased the Instance and time also.

Error: - timed out {0}

I have also checked the server logs but nothing related to this service.

Could you please help in resolve this issue ASAP.

Ran into something similar with a system service as well. Cause was, iirc, an erroneous path in the the service properties.

Check in arcgis/admin -> services:

Verify whether that msd actually still exists and at that exact location on the server. You can also unzip it and check its contents.

Is something is amiss you can fix its properties with the edit function:

It's been a while, but recall someting about it incorrectly adjusting the entered path. Perhaps I fixed it by editing the json on the server itself or fixing the msd itself first.

Further to this, is the time out error coming through on the front end of the Server Manager when restarting DynamicMappingHost?

Do we get any further details when looking at the Server Manager logs during a restart of the service.

Have you found a resolution? We are having this issue after upgrading to 12.1.

I just got mine started. I switched it from Shared to Dedicated service and it started back up. I hope this helps.

I stopped the ArcGIS Server services and created a new folder. I then moved all the services folder from the server site, except the System and Utility services, into the newly created folder.

After that, I restarted the ArcGIS Server service and started the DynamicMappingHost services. The services started successfully. I then stopped the services again, moved all the services back to their original folder, and restarted the ArcGIS Server service.

After completing these steps, the DynamicMappingHost issue was resolved.
