Fail to create the site.

Hello,

I know my question is not a new issue and might have been posted before.

I tried to create a new site on a fresh AGS 10.1 install on Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise (WMware),
and I get the following error:

Failed to create the site. Failed to create the cluster 'default'.
One or more server machines could not be started.

Please note that the default site_name and directories are accepted and
ports 4000-4003 are open. I would be grateful if you could kindly share
your experiences and suggestions to fix this problem

Make sure you are not using underscore or invalid machine names. See:

ArcGIS for Server is unable to create a site if the domain name contains numeric characters. The following error message is displayed, �??Failed to create the site. Failed to create the cluster default. One or more server machines could not be started.�?� If the user clicks Finish, another error message is displayed, �??Failed to create the site.�?�

Hello,

Thank you for your reply and tips. There are no underscore or numeric characters in domain
name but your suggestion is particularly valuable for beginners like me . However, there was a
non-English character (İ instead of I) So I modified the domain name and I was able to create
a new site.
