ArcGIS Enterprise - Internal vs External Domain Access Issues with Field Maps and Web Apps

My organization setting up an AWS platform with best particle for separating the public and private zone. When configure the ArcGIS Enterprise to suit for the environment that has ran into the issues. The internal users will be redirected to external URLs (webcontextURL) when launch the Apps such as Field Maps, Instant Apps etc.

Question: How do web apps behave when accessed via different domains?

Current Issues with Internal Access

1. Web Applications & Instant Apps

Apps created in Portal contain URLs referencing the Web Context URL
Internal users accessing apps still get redirected to external domain

2. Service URLs in Web Maps

yet to federate with portal and servers. Do service URLs automatically adapt based on access domain?

Environment Setup

ArcGIS Enterprise 11.5 (High Availability)
2 Portal for ArcGIS instances (EC2 )
2 Hosting ArcGIS Server, 2 Mapping Server, 2 Image Server, 2 relational datastore, 1 object store in S3
fsx file share for ha configuration file
AWS environment Route 53 for public zone and private zone
NLB/ALB set up Load balancers for high availability and healthcheck (not using ArcGIS WebAdaptor)

Current Configuration

Web Context URL: https://ext-portal.arcgis.company.com/arcgis (External)
Private Portal URL: https://int-portal.dev.local/arcgis (Internal)
External users: Access via https://arcgis.company.com/arcgis - Working fine
Internal users: Access via https://int-portal.dev.local/arcgis

The goal is to have internal users access ArcGIS Enterprise through the internal domain for:

Better network performance (no external routing)
Security compliance requirements
Reduced external bandwidth usage

Hi there,

Portal supports a single organization URL, which is set using the WebContextURL property. External and internal users will need to access this same URL.
