Just curious as to why you think 11.3 is not compatable with sql server 2016. According to ESRI it meets the system requirements. Ours is the 2016 version and I am gearing up to run the 11.3 updates and want to know if there is some issue.

Hello,

Our org has updated to arcgis pro 3.3 and enterprise 11.3. We are also on sql server 2016 sp2.

I recently discovered that sql server 2016 is not supported and am working. We are working on doing an update to sql server 2022.

Our org is not sure of the best upgrade path to sql server 2022. So far, we've thought of 2 options.

1. Doing an in-place upgrade. Since upgrading to sql server 2016 sp2-> sql server 2022 requires us to patch to sp3. Once patched to sql server 2016 sp3 we could upgrade to sql server 2022. This seems like the best option as we wouldn't have to re-register data and point all our projects and layers to a different data source.

2. Do a fresh clean install of sql server 2022 (either on the current server or on a new VM). We'd then migrate the data, configure the sql server 2022 settings to match that of our sql server 2016. Then re-register data and repoint all our projects and layers to this new server.

Has anyone been in this situation? If so, what did you end up doing?

Maybe I used the wrong wording. We are able to still connect and add data.

I did notice that 2016 is unsupported. If you try to update a enterprise geodatabase that is sql server 2016, it says unsupported.

https://enterprise.arcgis.com/en/server/latest/get-started/windows/what-s-new-in-arcgis-for-server.htm#:~:text=ArcGIS%20Enterprise%2011.3%20is%20the,starting%20with%20ArcGIS%20Enterprise%2011.3.

I also noticed some issues with the collector/field maps app where if you click on point data, you get transported to a different location. I contacted an ESRI rep and they said they could not duplicate my issue and they believe the culprit is our sql server 2016 not being supported could be the cause.
