      <title>Portal 10.8.1 patch installer not responding</title>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Hi everyone,&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;We just installed our 10.8.1 ArcGIS Enterprise. We installed the latest patches this morning for server and web adaptor and everything went well until the patches for Portal Enterprise sites 1 and 2.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;A href="https://support.esri.com/en/Products/Enterprise/portal-for-arcgis/portal-for-arcgis/10-8-1#downloads?id=7836" target="_blank" rel="noopener"&gt;https://support.esri.com/en/Products/Enterprise/portal-for-arcgis/portal-for-arcgis/10-8-1#downloads?id=7836&lt;/A&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;A href="https://support.esri.com/en/Products/Enterprise/portal-for-arcgis/portal-for-arcgis/10-8-1#downloads?id=7851" target="_blank" rel="noopener"&gt;https://support.esri.com/en/Products/Enterprise/portal-for-arcgis/portal-for-arcgis/10-8-1#downloads?id=7851&lt;/A&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;The installer after long minutes just send a message: installer not responding.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Does anyone got the same issue and if yes how did you solve it?&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Our ArcGIS Enterprise is installed on a windows 2019 64-bits server.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;We have been running ArcGIS Enterprise 10.8.1 on Windows 2019 since August and I have installed all the patches relative to the products we are actually using including the two mentioned above. I have not had either one of those patch installers freeze up. The thing I have to watch out for is the patch installer will start to run and nothing will appear to happen for 10 to 20 minutes, then I will get a Windows UAC prompt that I have to approve. Then the patch installer will sit there appearing to not do anything for another 10 to 20 minutes and then finally it will install the patch. Every single ArcGIS Portal patch that I have ever installed has taken at least 40 minutes to install.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Also, I try not to touch the patch installer window after it starts because I am afraid it will lock up the installer.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Same here! Installing portal patches takes about 20-45 min each even for tiny patches. We do our installations daily in the lab anf get these results consistently. Same since first version we used 10.5 up to now 10.9. Since number of patches often exceeds 5-10 before the next version arrives, the portal install can often take up to a full working day to complete. Using Sysinternals Process Monitor I don't see msiexec or any portal process doing much work (no network sessions, no IO, limited memory use). The msiexec process is however shown with around 600.000-700.000 page faults delta per second!, which sounds a lot to me (no other processes are above 10...)       <description>&lt;P&gt;this may sound stupid, but check with the Start Menu option that checks for Updates that the patch you are trying hasn't somehow been installed.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;This is exactly what happened to me - I am sure I hadn't installed it, but when I checked it was listed.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;After trying for few days to run the patch update and getting same message of&amp;nbsp;“Installer is no longer responding” warning, I clicked the “Retry” button and finally it is working&lt;/P&gt;&lt;UL&gt;&lt;LI&gt;On some systems, you might encounter this warning multiple times, but you can continue each time.&lt;SPAN&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;/UL&gt;&lt;P&gt;Hope that helps&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;*Update --- I was able to run the&amp;nbsp;&lt;SPAN&gt;ArcGIS-1081-PFA-AD-Patch.msp patch no problem; however this patch took almost 4 hours to complete. I just had to keep hitting "retry" when I would get the&amp;nbsp;“Installer is no longer responding”&amp;nbsp;&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;</description>
