My company just upgraded from Server 10.3 to 10.5. We are trying to configure the web adapter and keep getting errors about invalid tokens after entering in our FQDN "http://METCONAPP.METCON.DOMAIN:6080 " We're using the user name and password from our previous 10.3 web adapter, which we uninstalled prior to installing 10.5. Our default web site adapter in IIS was called "arcgis" and the installer wouldn't let us name the new adapter "arcgis." We tried to delete this web adapter from the webroot folder and start over, but we still haven't made any progress. WE're not sure how to proceed. We need to get our website and ArcGIS server back online ASAP.

Just rebooted. I'm able to get into the server manager again. It's a localhost:6443. Please make sure that the server machine is running and that the account specified has administrative privileges to the site.

These were in the server manager logs:

Failed to unregister the Web Adaptor '27405f37-773e-4422-b31c-f0698158625e'. Another administrative operation is currently accessing the store. Please try again later.

An error was encountered while synchronizing with the config store.

That doesn’t seem like a firewall issue — when you login to the server admin endpoint, can you check the following settings:

Does your site supports both http and https?

Is the old web adaptor still registered?

Is your server federated with a Portal for ArcGIS?

The error you’re getting “configured by another administrative operation” generally means some job has got “stuck” and put a .wlock or a .glock in one of your directories. If you restart your ArcGIS for Server windows service, it will terminate all of the “orphaned” jobs.

Once you get the above answers to me, we should be able to get you straightened out pretty quick

If your site supports https only, then you'll need to use https://servername.domain:6443 , not http://servername.domain:6080 (where 'servername' is the name of the GIS server machine and 'domain' is the machine's domain (can be found by right clicking 'This PC' and selecting 'Properties' on the GIS server)).
