ArcGIS Data Store Date Directories and performance

Hello, Everyone

I am in the middle of installing ArcGIS Enterprise that will support 3D applications based on Point Cloud data. My question is where to store ArcGIS data store tile cache (data directories)? Could I store it on (NAS storage) or I have to store it on local drive? given that the Point Cloud data will be (TBs) in size.

Hi. You can only use local disk.

You should also consider this advice:

https://enterprise.arcgis.com/en/portal/latest/administer/windows/install-data-store.htm#:~:text=Esri%20recommends%20that%20each%20type%20of%20data%20store%20run%20on%20a%20different%20machine%2C%20and%20that%20your%20ArcGIS%20Server%20sites%20run%20on%20separate%20machines%20than%20the%20data%20stores%20so%20that%20they%20don%27t%20compete%20for%20memory%20and%20other%20resources

Effectively you could use premium disk (performance) on your base deployment/hosting server, and for the tile cache host you could potentially use lower grade disk to save on budget without compromising performance elsewhere in the system.

@BillFoxI have only Image Hosting server (Image server license). Is it a must to configure the Image sever with Image Hosting and Raster Analytics at the same time so that I publish scene layers from LAS files?
