Publish map service with Mosaic dataset in it

We have one server machine (with Portal) and another image server machine.

Image services would publish to the image server and map services to the server but what about map services that contain mosaic?

Trying to publish to server gives error that no image license exists. Publish to the image gives and error that no server license exists.

We could add the image server to the server but does it allowed by license agreement?

Licensing is a discussion with your Esri (or distributor) sales representative. It’s not something a forum like this can help with.

if you’re using mosaics though then that would lead to an Image service rather than A map service and yes you’d need an Image Server license for that.

Even if you are publishing a Mosaic Dataset in a Map Service, that requires the Image Server license. See here
