topic Register AGOL hosted feature layer with ArcGIS Enterprise in ArcGIS Enterprise Questions

I have a hosted feature layer in AGOL. It is shared with our organization. I would like to register in our ArcGIS Enterprise (Portal). I did the following:

1) Copied the hosted service url from the Item Details section (this service is shared with our organization, not everyone/public);

2) In Portal, I chose Add Item, pasting in the url and choose storing credentials for a built-in Portal user. The credentials I am using is our Portal Admin username and password.

When I finish entering in the username and password it tells me that the username and password are incorrect. This is as far as I can get. Does anyone have some ideas on a solution or can provide me with a link to a help doc on this subject?

The username and password work fine in other areas, except when I try to do the above mentioned.

Hey, you need to enter the details of an AGOL user that can view (or maybe edit) the data in the AGOL hosted feature layer.

Thanks, Scott. I got it to work using one of our built-in AGOL account credentials. I wonder how if I could use one of our SSO accounts.

But, for our purposes the built-in account works.

Sorry, that's not supported. It has to be an ArcGIS account. SSO is for human to system access. In effect your doing human to system with ArcGIS Enterprise, but that account that is passed through is system to system and SSO (SAML2) isn't supported there.

I hasten to add that's an IT thing not an Esri thing.

Just a thought. The registering of feature services from one AGOL organisation to another, or between an AGOL Org and an Enterprise Portal is perfectly valid, but it's a little old skool in some ways. Therefore, if you have more advanced workflows, then you may want to look at distributed collaborations to see if that helps your workflow? There are multiple options, but it may allow some more fine-grained control. Have a look.
