Hello,

We've recently upgraded from ArcGIS Enterprise 10.8.1 to 10.9.1. The tile cache data store on 10.8.1 had a problem starting and validating. During the upgrade, the tile cache data store failed to upgrade due to this problem. We unregistered it in 10.9.1 and attempted to restore it using the restoredatastore utility but this wasn't successful. Since the data store didn't have any data, we decided to configure a new tile cache data store using the Data Store Configuration Wizard. This failed with the following error: Attempt to configure data store failed. Caused by: Failed to configure tile cache data store. Caused by: null. The error is also shown in the attached screenshot.

We've tried the solution documented in the following article but this did not help: https://support.esri.com/en/technical-article/000024922

Any suggestions on how to configure a new tile cache data store successfully will be appreciated.

Thanks.

If the tile cache is the only registered ArcGIS Data Store role configured on that machine, I would try stopping the service, renaming the data directory, then starting the service prior to running the configuration wizard again. If the relational (or other) data stores co-exist on that same machine you can use the backup utility to create a copy of those data stores prior to renaming the data directory, then run a restore for the working data store(s) before configuring the tile cache data store.

Thanks for your assistance. We've decided to first upgrade to ArcGIS Enterprise 11.0 and attempt to configure the tile cache data store there. If we run into the same error, we'll then attempt to follow your suggestion. And yes, we have a working relational data store that is also configured on the same machine.
