You are correct, the map viewer is preventing URLs of other sorts from going through. I've not found a workaround for this myself, short of simply providing the text of the URL and allowing users to copy it, though this is far from ideal.

I think a better question (for Esri staff, anyway) is why this happens. I would presume this is for some security-related reason, but I don't know myself.

Hello,

I have a URL stored in a field in a geodatabase. I want to display the URL as a hyperlink. So I defined a text field and I put a link with the field. The problem is that the link is displayed correctly but when I engage the link, wrong URL is sent. It seems that Map Viewer modifies URL in some way. Is there a way to disable this?

Also, I cannot create a link which don't start with "http" or "https", for example to a desktop app supporting URL. Both seems symptoms of the same problem: MapViewer modifies hyperlinks URLs.
