      <title>Why would an 8 bit raster create an image cache service twice the size of a 16 bit?</title>

      <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;P&gt;While creating a cached image service I noticed that the estimate cache size was more than double a previously created cache. The only difference was the smaller image cache was created on a 16 bit raster vs the new image service would be using an 8 bit raster. Can anyone explain why or what would cause this massive difference in cache size (30 GB vs 80 GB)?&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>
