ArcGIS Server 10.3 delete cache of a deleted service

Hello,

I have deleted deleted two cached map services but I cannot delete the tile cache created in the arcgiscache directory. Why does it not get deleted automatically with the service ?

And even having an administrative user account doesn't let me delete it manually.

What do I have to do ?

Hi Hildegard,

What is the error you receive when you try to delete the service?

Try the following:

1. Publish a service with the same name that was used for the deleted service the cache was created for

2. The service should reference the cache you are unable to delete

3. Right-click on the service > Manage Cache > Delete Cache

There was no error message. I have deleted the services from the ArcGIS Server Manager. But in the folder arcgiscache the cache remained.

I have already tried to delete the cache in the way you mention, but I always got the error message that the service was busy.

I managed now after closing the Web Browser (maybe that was the problem as I had displayed the service before) and even restarting ArcGIS server.
