Data type is changing to NVARCHAR2 from VARCHAR2 after increasing the field length in Oracle 11g SDE

After increasing filed length in ArcCatalog it has been found that data type has been changed to NVARCHAR2 from VARCHAR2 Oracle 11g SDE. Though DBTUNE is set as FALSE there are multiple columns with NVARCHAR2 in multiple tables across schemas in the database.

Can anyone help why this is happening and how to change the data type to VARCHAR2 from NVARCHAR2.
