ArcGIS BA Server 10.1 Installation - Error 1722

Hi,

We have installed ArcGIS Server 10.1 SP1 successfully.

While installing BA Server 10.1, we are getting error like "Error 1722. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Action RegSvcs_BAPDFExporter, location: C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319\, command: C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319\Regsvcs.exe "C:\Program Files\ArcGIS\Server\Business Server\Bin\bapdfexporter.dll" and the installation got reverted.

Installation set-up files are in local machine only.

Environment Details:
OS: Windows Server 2008 R2
RAM: 4GB

Same Installation works in other machines with same configuration. It fails in only one machine.

Tried executing the command
C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319\Regsvcs.exe "C:\Program Files\ArcGIS\Server\Business Server\Bin\bapdfexporter.dll from command prompt and got the error message as below:

An unknown exception occurred during installation:
1: System.TypeInitializationException - The type initializer for 'System.Transactions.Diagnostics.DiagnosticTrace' threw an exception.
2: System.Configuration.ConfigurationErrorsException - Configuration system failed to initialize
3: System.Configuration.ConfigurationErrorsException - Unrecognized configuration section startup. (C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319\RegSvcs.exe.
Config line 3)

Following are the activities we tried. But everything fails.

1. Uninstalled ArcGIS Server 10.1. Restarted the PC. Installed again ArcGIS Server 10.1 followed by BA Server 10.1
2. After installation of ArcGIS Server 10.1, Restarted the PC. Continued the installation for BA Server 10.1
3. Deleted the temp files in OS Temp Path before start installing BA Server 10.1

We were not able to install BA Server 10.1 in one of our machine. Please help to resolve the issue.

This error is a Windows error, not an ArcGIS error. Couple of things to try: re-register the bapdfexporter.dll file

example: Go to start, run, type regsvr32 bapdfexporter.dll

Uninstall .net framework 4.0 (all versions), re-install the latest version from
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=17851

Hi,

Thanks for your valuable inputs.

Actually I downloaded the .NET framework from your link. While starting installation, it asked for REPAIR or REMOVE. I repair the existing installation and everything went fine.
