when ArcCatalog connects to the enterprise database we have to save the connection file for each database. it could be helpful if ArcCatalog connects to instance only and database can be switched at any time while connected.

for example if I have an SQL instance with two databases "Database A" and "Database B", i will have to maintain two separate connection files for SDE user and once i am connected i can not swith to other database without disconnecting and chnaging the database name in the connection properties.

if ArcCatalog conencts to teh instance and list the existing database and uses can select any database while connected similar to SSMS.
