idea Support for Multiple Locators in Field Maps in ArcGIS Enterprise Ideas

At Elvia, we are deploying ArcGIS Field Maps to support field operations on our Utility Network data. We wanted to share a use case that highlights what we think could be a valuable improvement for organizations with complex search needs.

Field Maps currently reads only the default locator configured in the portal — in our case, an address locator provided through Geodata Online. We have configured several additional locators in the portal to support different search needs, including asset-based searches built on top of our Utility Network services. Unfortunately, these are not available in Field Maps.

This means our field crews are limited to address search only. In practice, technicians also need to search by asset IDs, station names, and other infrastructure-specific identifiers — so the current limitation has a real impact on daily workflows.

We would love to see Field Maps gain the ability to consume multiple portal locators, allowing organizations to configure different search experiences for different operational needs. Even support for a minimum of two active locators would make a meaningful difference — enabling both address search and asset-based search within the same map.

We believe this would provide valuable flexibility for utility workflows and bring Field Maps closer to real-world operational requirements. We are happy to provide more context or a screen recording if that would be helpful.

You have my vote!

We had a customer requesting this feature back in 2024. I asked the esri field maps team of any plans for this at Esri UC 2024, they said it wasn't on the roadmap. We (distributor) ended up developing a custom search API that could be consumed by ArcGIS Enterprise and Field Maps to solve the requirement.
