ArcMap upgrade from version 10.1 to 10.6

Hello, we would like to upgrade our ArcMap from version 10.1 to 10.6 or the latest. I'm wondering if it is fine to take this big leap. Any suggestions or experiences would be much appreciated. Thanks!

No. If you already have ArcGIS for Desktop 10.2 or later installed , the setup will automatically upgrade to ArcGIS Desktop 10.6.1. Additionally, you can install ArcGIS Desktop without having an earlier version installed on your machine

Updating Desktop itself is simple enough, but if you have any enterprise geodatabases stuck back at 10.1 the migration path is more convoluted (partially because many of the databases supported back at 10.1 are not supported in modern software).
