Select same feature on multiple maps

I have a dashboard with multiple maps in tabs . The maps are all the same except that the layer is symbolized by a different attribute on each. Similar to how I can link the maps to change extent when the extent is changed in one, I would like to have the same feature(s) selected in all maps when they are selected in one of the maps. I can and have created a dashboard with a single map that has all the indicators attached to it, but then I can't show the layer symbolized in multiple ways. Is this possible, maybe I'm just missing something? Thanks!
