Is there another date option that works similar to combination? I was just beginning to use combination in a couple dashboards I'm sorry to see it go away.

I've changed my mind, the new date selector works great! I work for an electric utility and I'm using it to see when storm damage has been entered by linemen. With the options available now the calendar will display only the dates someone has entered damage. Now I can select those dates and get totals on storm damage. Nice improvement Esri! The only thing that would be better is if I could check dates on multiple layers.

Hi Mark - Although it was convenient to have both date selection patterns included in a single selector, it increased the complexity and blurred the intent as each type served a distinct purpose. Existing combination date selectors will be converted into a defined value selector to maintain custom date queries.

Hi Sandra, are there any recommendations on how to fix the issues this caused in existing dashboards? I have a dashboard that relied on a combination date selector for the initial selection and I'm flummoxed on how to reconfigure the dashboard without that option.

I am having the same issue. I had stored values to pick from (Yesterday, in the last 3 days, etc) OR pick a range on the calendar. I am trying to add the range back in, but I can't just add a new filter to the header for the date range because I need the default "Yesterday" filter on when the dashboard loads. When a range is selected it doesn't remove the filter in the other date filter.

Hi Debbie,

For my dashboard, I had to create a second filter (using the +Add button under my existing filter) that would include the full dataset. I checked the toggle for "require selection", and chose "First" as the default selection to limit the opening selection to just the past 24 hours and if the field is null. The user is now able to choose to change the selection to "All Data" and then use a second date filter to create a custom date range.

On open, my filter looks like this:

For yours, I think you would do something similar, using "yesterday" as the first selector and a custom filter that includes your full dataset as the second filter.

Hope this works for you!

Sandra - Does the ArcGIS Dashboard Team offer Holistic Testing for users to test the upcoming changes to ArcGIS Dashboards? If YES, can you please include my name on the ArcGIS Dashboards Holistic Testing list. If NO, can I suggest that the ArcGIS Dashboard Team consider conducting this type of testing with users so we can test upcoming changes and also maybe get a heads up on what changes will be coming so that we can plan accordingly. It's no fun getting e-mails from users complaining that Dashboard filters that used to work for them no longer work as expected. Thanks so much! 🙂

The bigger issue is we now need to train users to set the pre-defined date selectors to "ALL" before using the calendar selector? Maybe a way for the calendar to supersede the pre-defined selector in the Actions tab? @SandraLuken1 having 2 date selectors in dashboards doesn't seem like "simplification" to me.
