Configuring category selector - error while selecting layer

Hi! Requiring some help here: I am new to Dashboards and I want to configure a category selector which will be a "Year" field of a layer (points; grouped values). However, when I try to select the layer I need, it seems impossible. The little question mark to the right tells me "Statistics not supported by the layer". Do you know what is wrong and what should I do in order to interect with this layer? I have the same problem for my other layer (polylines). It only seems possible to work for my first layer here as you can see.

Is your field specified as a date? Hosted feature service? If you go to the rest service does it say it supports queries? You can click json and then search for supports queries

Thanks Laura! The field is a text file (string).

"supportsAdvancedQueries": false,
 "supportedQueryFormats": "JSON, geoJSON, PBF",

Here is what I have. The "advanced" queries do not seem to be supported indeed... How can I change that?
