Download table from dashboard

I want users to be able to download summary tables from a dashboard (I am just learning AGOL and dashboards). I created these summary tables of AGOL feature layers with Arcade code.

The instructions here https://doc.arcgis.com/en/dashboards/latest/create-and-share/download-data.htm say:

But I don't see any mention of download options within the 'general' tab:

Nor is there a download arrow at the bottom of the element as described in the instructions on the page.
Solutions don't have to be within a dashboard, although that seemed appropriate.

Hi Dave,

You might want to confirm that the feature service shown in the table is set to allow exports. It's at the very bottom of the Settings tab of the layer's Item Details page.

Thanks kindly. I have changed the settings to 'allow others to export to different formats'. But the nothing has changed from my original post.

Hmm, interesting. After changing that setting, did you make sure you hit save on the Settings tab? And did you reload the browser tab where you are configuring your dashboard after saving the change to the layer settings?

I have now done all of this to no avail. Thanks heaps for attempting to help. All I want to do is sum observation counts grouped by two factors; all the fields included are within a single feature layer. Maybe a dashboard is not the answer. I'm learning a lot, but stumbling a lot as well.

Bummer. I suspect it's related to having built the table through an Arcade expression. Have you tested adding another table using the layer as the data source rather than your data expression? I realize you'd only be able to group on one field, but it might be a helpful troubleshooting step.

Experience Builder has a table widget with download capabilities too. Not sure if it would have the same limitation.

Thanks kindly. I heard that experience builder had this capability so I messed with it for a little. I gotta figure out how to use it. It takes a while to build experience. Thanks heaps for taking the time.

Does Experience Builder support Arcade? Looks like it may not, or I can't figure out how to implement the code. Thanks kindly though for taking your time.

No problem. By the way, I created a data expression grouped on one field as an experiment and I was still able to toggle on a summarized data download. I didn't take the time to figure out how to group on two fields, so maybe that's the deal breaker.

In some parts, yes, but we would consider Arcade not to be supported in Experience Builder.

You might want to check if AGOL's dashboard settings support exporting summary tables directly. If not, consider using the squishmallow halloween "Export Data" option from the feature layer's menu or scripting with Python to automate table downloads.

I believe that something changed in the most recent update to ArcGIS Online. I used to be able to configure a table to allow source data download. It was a simple toggle switch

This is a table that I have in a dashboard. This was created earlier this year.

Today, if I add a new table, the Summarized data download option does not appear. In its place is Allow attribute updating (which is great in general, but if the data was originally created in Field Maps with expressions to calculate data, i.e., pull the nearest address based on the parcel layer, the edit function in the dashboard cannot process that it seems and those fields become blank, even if I don't choose to update them. I realize that is an issue for another post)

I encountered this yesterday when i went to try to create a table where an end-user could download the source data to a csv file. This functionality does not appear to exist in Dashboards anymore.

I see the option has changed. It is still in the General options just below the Title, but it is not working. Has anyone figured this one out? Thanks.

I am trying to export the data from the Table as well but my layer is coming from a REST service, not a hosted feature service. is there a way to enable data export or download for a REST service? if so is it in the server manager site or within the SDE. ALL layers within the webmap are from REST services, not hosted FS or views. the dashboard will filter data but not allow the export of that data from the table or the LIST panel .

Hey Dave,

A year late but I was having the same problem as you. I found the option to allow export once I expanded the more information on the header. I was able to find the Source Data Download when I expanded that item. Hopefully you found this solution.

Hi,

I have the same issue, and I was following the thread. Interestingly, I don't even have the option for "summarized data download" in my dashboard. My download button was coming the moment I set it up, and then as I added more features, it disappeared. Just wanted to point out that despite all steps mentioned above, this option is not there in my dashboard.
