idea Allow for the exploration of multiple data expressions when creating a new element in ArcGIS Dashboards Ideas

When I create a new element in my testing dashboard, I can select a Data Expression from a list of existing expressions. However, since I wasn't very creative in naming all of my expressions, I'm presented with a list like this

If I open a specific data expression to review its code, I can't exit out of the Arcade editor and select another expression without starting the process of creating a new element again.

There should be a separate button that closes the editor and takes me back to the list of data expressions in the Select a layer dialog.

With the October 2025 release of ArcGIS Dashboards, the ability to swap data sources is now available through the new data sources panel. This includes editing a data expression without impacting the element configuration.

See the related blog post here
