SDE access slow

I created a webmap accessing data from file .gdb. It's an average size dataset and on viewing it on the device it works fine.

I moved them to a SqlServer SDE database and viewed them through another webmap. It's so slow that I can virtually see each layer being drawn. The DBA is happy with the database performance and it meets his benchmarks. The webmap display speed isn't acceptable for me.

Any ideas why access from an SDE db is so slow?

Is your DBA running standard maintenance on the database such as compress and updating statistics?

Checked with him sometime back and he flagged it off as all fine.

Thanks for your feedback and I had a look into it and it's definitely slow. Took it up again and realized the db guy isn't really interested. Guess this forums won't reply why? 🙂
