Are you using hosted or your on-premise server?

Are you able to collect in AGOL?

If you try in AGOL - collect a feature and refresh your browser page and see if the feature still exists or see if it made it back into your SDE. This will help us determine where the issue is.

Thanks

Russ

I don't think that would cause the issue. If you can enable debug logging on your server or look at the network requests when you try to add you might be able to determine the issue.

Russ

The log repeatedly says a database error has occurred after I attempt to add a feature, nothing more. The source is featureservice.mapserver. The service featureservice appears to be running. Yes I know simple name but the idea was this was a test service. Fiddler doesn't return anything on a click. Also interesting is that I apparently can edit existing points in AGOL. However, even edits will not post from Collector. Again, I am able to edit one of my features without issue in Collector and in AGOL.

I wanted to chime in with a similar problem using the same workflow but with an error that is a little more specific:

Error: Underlying DBMS error [[Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 11.0][SQL Server]There are no rows in the current fetch buffer.] [GDBName.DBO.LayerName].

I first got this message in one geodatabase. I then moved it to a brand new GDB. It worked fine for two days and now the same error is coming back up again. This is my first app using the 10.2.2 offline mode and as such I don't have any comparison points with other apps.

Any ideas on whether this is related to my specific database/datasets or could this be a bug.

Thanks

I have encountered the same problem with an on-premesis 10.22 ArcGIS Server and a SQL-Server backed GDB. In my case the symptom was that the ApplyEdits REST API call failed.

The Error from ArcGIS Server is:

Unable to complete operation.

Unable to perform applyEdits operation.

And the detail in the logs is:

Error: Underlying DBMS error [[Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 11.0][SQL Server]There are no rows in the current fetch buffer.]

I cannot yet explain how the server got into this state, but perhaps my resolution will help you. To resolve the issue we did the following:

Stop all services connecting to the offending database.

Restart the DB instance with the commands below

Restart the services again

ALTER DATABASE MyDatabase SET OFFLINE WITH ROLLBACK IMMEDIATE
go
ALTER DATABASE MyDatabase SET ONLINE
go

Once the services came back online the REST API was able to update features once again.

I believe the underlying cause of "There are no rows in the current fetch buffer" error is archiving. I was getting this error a lot and had to disable archiving to stop it. Luckily i was just trialing offline and dont have a major need for it at the moment.

Would be interested to see if that fix works, not sure how taking the DB off line then back would be a long term fix though?

Just an update, we are still testing out and haven't officially taken the plunge yet (yep a year later) but to the best of my knowledge this error is no longer happening and to be completely honest, I have no idea what we did to fix it anymore or if a bug fix was patched on. I have always been in online mode, so archiving wasn't my issue and I never saw the error mentioned above.

I was also getting reports of the download stalling. Compressing the database with all connections closed, then taking it offline and back online again resolved it for me. Editing through ArcMap online was never affected, it was only the REST interface that was an issue.

The temporary fix of stopping all services and taking the SQL database offline and putting back online works but the big question is why do I have to do this every other week??

The archive enabled data which is being used offline seems to be source of the issue...

Error: Underlying DBMS error [[Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 11.0][SQL Server]There are no rows in the current fetch buffer.] [GIS_EDIT.DBO.tmpRubbishRemoval].
