topic SHP gets flatten when Align to Terrain in ArcGIS CityEngine Questions

Hi,

I'm new in CE and this must be something simple that I'm missing here. When I import a SHP files, the 3D models are generated. However, when I click on "align shapes to terrain" they all get flatten. How do I retain the SHP attributes and align them to a DEM?

Thanks!

If your building parts are seperate objects, they will each be translated seperately. If you select the building pieces you can group the shapes with the -> <- button in the drawing toolbar. Now you should be able to translate it while keeping its form.

Mind that projecting always projects the vertices of the shapes. This will flatten any shape.

Thanks L R for the reply!

Your comment helped me figure out that I had to change the Align function to Translate to Maximum and not projecting it as you mention it.
