Select shapes related to graph objects

I'd like to use the search selection bar (in the Scene window) to select categories of roads based on object attributes - for instance all roads with the attribute "Major Arterial". It works just fine to select the segments, which lets me create a selection set and set road widths for them all at once. But I can't figure out how to select the dependent shapes also, which is where the more fine tuned settings are, like adding bike lanes, on-street parking etc.

search just gets me the segments

I need the dependent shapes selected.
