The segmentation/lifestyle data in BAO is good (Canada) but what I would really like to do is calculate which ones are the top/bottom when I am looking at an area. In my customised report there is too much clutter to try and show every variable either in the report or in a graph. I can't isolate specific categories because I don't know which ones are of most interest in each area. Building variables doesn't allow any option (that I can see) that would facilitate an easier way of generating this.

Having a way of ranking or creating a 'top 3/top 5' variables would be an enormous help.

Thank you for your question. I understand you are trying to be able to see the top 3 to 5 segmentation in any area in Canada. Just to understand your need more clearly, do you want to see the top 3/top 5 segments in a pop up when looking at the map or in a report? For example, for US we have a pre-formatted report called Tapestry Segmentation Area profile report which lists the top 20 segments for any area of user's choice. Thank you for getting back to me on this and including that US example. That is pretty much what I’d like to see for the Canadian PRIZM data. In the reports I didn’t see anything that allows such a ranking. Top 20 would be a big help and even the ability to pick and choose (top 10? Top 5? Top 3?). Initially I was looking for this within a report rather than a popup, but that’s another great idea!

The PRIZM data for Canada has 69 categories and trying to filter through which ones are relevant is a big pain. Not to mention trying to fit all the categories on to a single report page.

Further to your question on pop ups, I did remember that it is something I've considered before. When putting together customized infographics it would be much clearer to only use a few variables (and of course there is a maximum) so being able to find those elusive top 3 or top 5 would enable this info to be included in an infographic analysis as well.

Thanks for the additional details. Similar to having top 3 or 5 segments in the reports, we can have similar options for the custom infographics. We already do that for the US tapestry segments.

We can probably add a similar option for Canada as well.

I am pleased to inform you that your request for the Canadian PRIZM data to be available in reports is implemented in the current version of Business Analyst Web. A Prizm Segmentation Area Profile classic report is now available, as well as the Prizm Segmentation Summary infographic for Canada.

You can also perform mapping analysis using the "Dominant PRIZM Segment Number" in Color-coded Maps and Smart Map Search.

We hope this meets your Business Analyst feature request. Please let us know if you have other great ideas.
