Create BIS using Bathymetry ArcGIS Pro 3.4

Hello Everyone,

I try Bathymetry extension in ArcGIS Pro 3.4, then have some questions. Please give me your advices.

1. Create BIS tool -> have 3 files, including Mosaic Dataset BisBDI -> and Add Data To BIS

2. I view results in ArcGIS Pro, including Bis Catalog and BisBDI

3. I run BIS To Mosaic Dataset, this Output Mosaic Dataset need to create in anther Geodatabase, canot create in the BIS geodatabase.

4. Then view results, and I see there has a different pixels' value between BISCatalog and BisMosaicDataset

My questions: we can not use BisBDI as a final Mosaic Dataset, then use it to publish into Portal with ArcGIS Image server extension. Instead, we need to Create new Mosaic Dataset outside BIS geodatabase, then run BIS to Mosaic Dataset tool. And about the pixels value between 2 resutls BisCatalog and BisMosaicDataset?

Hello.

The BIS To Mosaic Dataset tool optimises the BisBDI for publication as an image service, including reducing the number of output bands to one. Furthermore, the BisBDI uses default data ordering, whereas BIS To Mosaic Dataset allows you to establish the dataset prioritization in the output for publication.

Derived products (such as BIS To Mosaic Dataset output) should not be stored in the BIS. The Analyze BIS validation tool as well as in-tool validations will be compromised by unexpected elements in the BIS.

The images uploaded appear small and blurry to me, so I'll hazard a guess as far as pixel values go. In BisCatalog Layers in View, you are looking at the actual datasets with their individual value ranges. The BisBDI uses overviews, so you are seeing the value range calculated on overall mosaic dataset statistics. These values will change and become more accurate if you run "Calculate Statistics" on the BisBDI or any other mosaic dataset. However, that operation takes quite a bit of time and is not performant to constantly use when updating the map view while you're using the BIS. However, I'd recommend running Calculate Statistics on finalized products.
