Silverlight 4 and ArcGIS Server 9.3.1

We are currently working on a new SL web application built on SL3 and ArcGIS Server 9.3.1. We are evaluating a move to SL4 and the 2.0 API but I am concerned about compatibility with ArcGIS Server 9.3.1. I am not sure that we can move our server to version 10 anytime in the near future, so we may be running 9.3.1 for another year or so. Other than the new features in 10 (editing, time-aware layers, etc.) are there any problems running SL4 against 9.3.1.

I should also mention that we are using secure services in ArcGIS Server - does this cause any problems with SL4?

The API is designed to still be able to work with 9.3.1, so you should be good to go.
Regarding secured services, using the SL4 plugin will only be better, since you can generate tokens based on referrer, which wasn't supported by Silverlight 3.
There's also another mid-way option: You could move to Silverlight 4, but stay building using the 1.2 API. You won't get the new features in 2.0, but most of the new features are only available if you have an ArcGIS Server 10. However you will get the benefits of Silverlight 4.0 like printing, referrer support, better binding etc.

This sounds good. However, if in addition, we moved ArcGIS Server to 10, but kept our GeoDatabase (SDE) at 9.3.1, could we then do editing in Silverlight 4? That would allow us to use the new FeatureLayerService of Server, but does it require anything that is not in SDE 10?
