TemporalRenderer in 4x - options

i've had a look through the forums and this has been asked a couple of times with no reply - i'm asking again to see if it's possible to get an answer:

what's the best way to replace TemporalRenderer in 4.x? it's not there and there's no info on what it's been replaced with, if anything.

I think the replacement for TemporalRedererer is trackInfo on StreamLayers and FeatureLayers. It's currently in beta
