Print Task legend issue

I am using the print task from ArcGIS Server 10.1. Creating a PDF in A4 portrait mode produces the legend in this format.

Any ideas on this/

this is a known issue. check out Tanu's reply in the ArcGIS Server thread below for steps to resolve issues in output PDFs.

Thanks for pointing to that thread.

Setting the default printer size larger than the print size fixed the issue.

Hi,
I am having the same issue described above, but I can't find where to make the necessary changes. Is it done to the actual PrintingTools Geoprocessing Service? Where do I change the default print size?

the change is made at the system level for a specific user on the computer itself. its not something that is specific to ArcGIS Server, its just important to make the changes while logged into the arcgis account so that the changes will be picked up when ArcGIS Server is running.

some example steps on Windows 7:
1. logon to computer using ArcGIS service account credentials
2. Start > Devices and Printers
3. Right-click default printer (indicated by green checkmark) and select "Printing Preferences" > Advanced
4. Select a larger paper size than letter

Thanks for the tip. That did the trick. I was not using the ArcServer credentials, instead my own, thus it was not picking up my changes.
