Field order not appearing in service

Hi,

At V10 there is the facility in ArcMap to re-order the fields for presentation purposes - in the same place you set up field aliases and hide fields you don't want to see (layer properties > fields).

When I publish the MXD as a service and inspect the REST/services information for that layer I can see the alias names, and the fields I unticked don't appear as expected, but the order of the fields I defined does not come through - it has reverted back to the order they appear in the attribute table.

Does anyone know how to set up the attribute field order so that I don't have to handle it programmatically?

Hi All,

I am getting the same problem, where I am setting the field ordering in MXD and after publishing the MXD I am not getting the field order, but I get the same order as set in the attribute table. It's not respecting the MXD field ordering. Has some one got the solution to this problem?
