Hi

Does anyone know if it is possible to get the pan animation to act similar to google's glide stlye pan animation when moving on the map quickly?

Has ESRI implemented kinetic panning in the Javascript API yet? If not, when?

Silverlight and Flex have smooth kinetic panning. We'd like to see similar behavior in our web map apps regardless of the API. We'd also like to provide modern web functionality that users expect.

kinetic panning is not yet available in the JavaScript API. please feel free to upvote the idea in our portal to show your interest in the feature being added in the future.

Okay. I up-voted the 'Idea' of adding kinetic panning.

Still, such functionality should be foundational when creating the Javascript API. It shouldn't require customer petition. - IMHO.

its my understanding that while "smoother" this effect requires side loading a lot of the surrounding tiles just in case the user pans. Essentially, it is smoother, but slower.

Ill take fast and ugly over slow and pretty anyday. But i agree it would nice to enable as an option.

I'll take 'Fast & Pretty'. You can 'lazy' load any needed surrounding tiles.

dont get me wrong, i like it. Even as the default. I just hope there is a map.setPanStyle as legacy or kinetic.

True - I'm with you on this. Making it an option would be great. I don't understand why it got left out. Makes our apps look dated right out the door.
