Add support for repeating labels for polygons

I am just hitting the limitation of labeling polygons which cannot be repeated:

I have very long and narrow polygons (tunnels) and for this use case, having a single label at the center of the polygon is really not convenient. This property for lines has been added at 4.22 so a while ago.

It would be great if this support could be added.

I’d like to contribute to this discussion, as I’m currently working with a utility client who manages a large, elongated polygon representing a critical gas zone. The current limitation around labelling polygons has a direct impact on operational visibility and, more importantly, on Health and Safety. In high-risk areas like this, clear and consistent labelling is essential for field teams and office operators to quickly identify and respond to potential hazards. This makes the lack of repeat labelling for polygons not just a technical gap, but a safety concern that needs to be prioritized.

I'm creating a web app where users can select agricultural fields within a large fire district, then quickly print a map. This tool is designed to be user friendly, fast, and create a consistent product. The fire district polygons are large relative to the ag fields. Without repeat labeling, the printed map doesn't include the fire district label which is critical information and a safety concern. Right now, users have to manually add a text box which is time-consuming and frustrating.
