Group operational layers in layerlist

I'm just looking to thematically group various operational layers within the layerlist widget. The operational layers are from various sources, dynamic services, KML. In other words, something like this:

Infrastructure
      - roads
      - cities
Hydro
      - lakes
      - rivers
      - dams

These groupings won't serve any purpose other than to organize many layers(don't need the group titles to have checkboxes). I'd be really grateful for any pointers.

You are posting to the wrong forum. Flex Viewer and or widget questions belong in the Flex Viewer forum:

Also this question has been asked and answered MANY TIMES. Bottom line is, it is not possible unless you are a very experienced developer and prepared to re-write the whole toc package under the FlexViewer2.5/src/com/esri/viewer/components which the layer list widget uses.
