ESRI's Flex API is no different, it requires REST endpoints (generally, although some other formats are acceptable) primarily created by ArcServer. &lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;You will need to setup an ArcServer implementation before you can serve your own shapefiles to the Flex API.&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;Hello! Newbie to flex and flash and am struggling trying to, display a shape file on a map. I have the files located in a directory and am trying to get it to go to the site grab the file and display it.&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;Any help is much appreciated!&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;I am using flash builder 4.5 and latest version of flex.&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>
