Hi all,

I've completed this tutorial right now, but as our colleague above, I don't know how to deploy it as a widget. The principal question is: How can I build a XML?

I read the links, but still have this issue of build the configuration file for the compiled code.
Any ideas will be appreciated.

Regards

Hi Guys,
Apologies if I have posted in the wrong place, I had options of Python Forum, Geoprocessing Forum etc. but I have a 2 part question.

1) Link
I have completed this tutorial and it works Adavnced Quaity Printing - to a point I cannot seem to pass an extent or a scale to the template, it just defaults to the scale and extent the template is saved at .... How do I overcome this, I know it must be simple, but I just dont see it. It creates perfect PDF's but not to the viewer display scale or extent.

2) On a flex note the end of the tutorial gives you the .mxml's for creating a simpel app to use the gp print task, this works well and its exactly what I need - except I need it as a widget - is there a tutorial of how to make a widget from an app. Please excuse the poorly crafted question, I'm not experienced with creating new widgets in flex, I have only ever deployed and customised them.

Any help as always is appreciated

Paulg

The landing page of the Flex Viewer Resource Center has some videos. Also check out the developer help concepts as you'll see instructions for creating widgets.

http://resources.arcgis.com/en/communities/flex-viewer/index.html

http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/flex-viewer/concepts/index.html#/Getting_started_for_developers/01m30000001q000000/

Thanks for the response ... I reviewed both links and I'm going to give the widget a shot tomorrow, thanks for the link. On the python extent and scale with the webmap, I sorted this after I reviewed the other link and the instructions carefully I made a typo on the Web_Map_as_JSON Display Name - again thanks....

On a similar path - The process is great fast and cracking quality, but how can I get Rasters into the process?.. For testing I put in a raster into the template, and the serivice. I create the PDF and the raster is created , but is renamed IMAGE and is placed at the bottom of the layer list -same is true for multiple images. I tried getting the 'rasters = arcpy.ListRasters(mxd)' list and trying not to remove these - so many different ways but never managed to get a correct result - as in and image with the corrrect name and location in the TOC in the PDF.

any hints please - i'd like to crack this soon

cheers

Paulg
