LayerDrawingOptions

I have a question about the LayerDrawingOptions. When I set a desired renderer for a particular layer in a map service it works great but many of the layers I do not specify new renderers for do not draw using their default renderer or do not draw at all. Is this the designed behavior?

No, the other layers should still draw using the renderer they were authored with. Can you reproduce this using a service at: http://servicesbeta4.esri.com/arcgis/rest/services

I can not get the sample (ChangeLayerDrawingOptions.mxml) to work at all with that MapService... I at least got it to change the renderer for 3 layers using my ArcGIS 10.1 b2 server.

can i dredge up this old thread?

i'm seeing the same behavior. i can fiddle w/the example map service just fine but our local one's returning a NULL layerDrawingOptions array. that map service also has a feature service as well. could that be the fly in this ointment? if so, any workarounds?

nevermind...Service must report "Supports Dynamic Layers: true".
