idea Add 3d-model to web scene. Respect existing georeferencing in Scene Viewer Ideas

In june 2023 you could add a 3d-model to a web scene directly (IFC, OBJ, 3ds) and place it graphically in the model.
In june 2024, there was added functionality to add coordinates to place the model (use "tab" to open the coordinate dialog box).

This is getting better, But! We get 3d-models (IFC) that is correctly georeferenced from developers etc. I want the "add model"-dialog to respect this, to read the spatial reference from the model - when they are available.

ArcGIS pro does this. Sometimes you have to define the coordinate system to get it work.

If this is made possible, this solution will be much more complete.

Thanks for your feedback @SveinungBertnesRåheim! We are actively working on supporting georeferenced models being uploaded through the web and should be released first half of 2025.

Can you provide some more insights into how your 3D models are georeferenced? e.g. what IFC version, what coordinate system, are you using a world file?

I am no IFC-expert. Sometimes an IFC versjon 2/3 can be georerenced. Other times they are not.
I have been told IFC version 4 is best for preserving georeferencing.

Sometimes we need to add correct coordinate system to get it work. We generally work with UTM sone 33 (Euref89 sone 33 - WKID: EPSG 25833).

Normally, the models have mm as resolution, not meter. Probably because engineers genereally work with millimeter, not meter. The georeference is stored in the file, no world-file.

A bit confused answer, but the engineers making theese models in Autocad or other CAD-tools are generally confused when it comes to reference systems. It seems.
I think ESRI should focus on newer versions, like the IFC version 4. No need to spend resources on yesterdays standards. If you want, I could send some models that are georeferenced to you.
