Web Editor NEEDS batch attribute editing. The only widget holding me back to web app builder is the batch attribute editing widget

This is on our roadmap and one of the projects we are working on. It was not able to make the June 2024 release but we are working hard to ensure it makes the next release.

This functionality needs to be added. The selection aspect within web editor seems to be working well but of cause the first thing I want to do with a selection is apply a field calculate to the selection, currently you can only edit attributes of a feature one at a time which negates any use of a selection. We look forward to this functionality being added.

Unfortunately, the Batch Attribute Editor will not be in the November release of the Web Editor. We're targeting the first release in 2025 for this capability to be available.

This is on our list for the next release of Web Editor (February release), the team is working hard to get this for the release, I'll have a firm answer on whether it will make the release in the next 2 weeks.

I see you mention that bacth attribute editing is planned to be available in the upcoming release of Web Editor. Are we talking ArcGIS Online only or also ArcGIS Enterprise? How about the widget for Experience Builder?

It will be available in the February release of the Web Editor in ArcGIS Online and then in the Enterprise 11.5 release.

"How about the widget for Experience Builder?"

Experience Builder will have access to the bulk attribute editing when we add that capability to the Editor widget. This is planned for the June release of ArcGIS Online.

😀Happy to see this implemented in the Feb 2025 ArcGIS Online release.

😢Disappointed that only 20 records can be modified at time. Why!?! I'm sure there's some technical performance limitation, but surely ESRI knows there would be pushback by limiting batch edits to only 20 records at a time.

From this blog post:

Note: You can edit up to 20 features at once when the layer has a form configured. When a form hasn’t been authored for the layer, you can edit up to 200 features at once. We’re working to increase those limits in a future release.

@mwartman_grey Glad you're happy to see this make into the Feb 2025 ArcGIS Online release. This is first release of the functionality and we do plan further updates and improvements. Specifically, the limits, as Emily mentions in her blog post, we are working to increase the limits in a future release.

When a layer has forms authored, we've decided to be conservative with this first release while we continue to optimize the experience. This is to ensure predictable performance regardless of form complexity. Batch updating forms that make use of FeatureSet functionality have the potential to degrade performance and the user experience especially if a form contains multiple arcade expressions that use FeatureSets. The 20 feature limit ensures that even when multiple users in an organization are performing batch editing with complex forms they have a consistent and responsive experience.

We appreciate the feedback and know this capability has been something people have been waiting to see for sometime. We made the decision to include in Web Editor, even with the limits, at this release based on that demand.

Thanks for the additional context @CraigGillgrass, that makes sense. When this functionality eventually makes it to Experience Builder, it'd be nice to be able to have configurable control over the feature limit. With internal ExB deployments we have an understanding of performance, user behaviour and the underlying data so are in a much better position to make a pragmatic decision on feature limits.

A quick side note: Batch attribute editing is now also available in the standard map viewer. I assume for all user types with editing permissions.
