If you are exporting the sketchup model as a .dae, then there are three ways to import it in ArcGIS. You can create a point and then import the 3d symbology, create an empty multipatch feature class in a geodatabase and then insert the multipatch manually or you can use the Import 3d Files tool. ArcGIS Online is a great place to access basemaps, imagery, elevations, and demographic maps for creating your 3D views. Esri CityEngine and Esri partners such as Pictometry, Blom, TeleAtlas, and VirtualCity provide ready-made 3D city models that can be loaded directly into ArcGIS"

This was read.

The tool that Eric is mentioning will use the Multipatch and then, 'burn' in or add to the DEM you have. The 'archive multipatches' you are referrring to are .dae? Or .skp? If so you should convert them back into Multipatches in a geodatabase, prior to burning into the .dem. You can still use the original DEM in your solar analysis, once the buildings have been added to it.

I need to burn multipatches into a DEM. The tool mentioned here:

http://resources.arcgis.com/gallery/file/java/details?entryID=2929E846-1422-2418-A0DD-16627D87B471

is not accessible (Error 502). Would be glad if someone could help me out...

Furtheron, I'm confused were Arcscripts went to. It says ArcScripts was moved to Code Galleries, but there are no active Code Galleries on the Ressource Center. So I registered with ArcGIS Online, and I don't find any python scripts or tools there. Where did the valuable idea of sharing code with others go?

Thanks,

Kathrin
