Hi Jason

1. More sample locations (points) are important to create a better surface. Check here to see about interpolation An overview of the Interpolation toolset—Help | ArcGIS for Desktop

 i.

I am going to be doing an academic project which requires me to take soil samples for laboratory analysis. Here are several questions which I need to understand.

Am I correct in thinking the more sample locations used the higher the resolution?

is there a tool in ArcGIS to create Sample locations to download onto a handheld GPS for fieldwork?

I plan to drape these results over a TIN/DEM (is this the best way?)

Do I need to create a different excel sheet for each depth and then use kriging tool for them and stack them draped of TIN/DEM ?

Any advice for doing this with mixed microbe populations would be greatly welcomed.

Many thanks in advance
