topic Convert TIN to something more performant to use as a custom elevation source? in 3D Questions

I have a very large TIN dataset that I would like to use as a custom elevation source, but it kills the performance of a 3D scene. It’s obviously too large and I was thinking of segmenting it to a mosaic-like dataset but I think I would still have the same issue in the end.

I tried using the TIN to Raster tool but when I try to set it as a custom elevation source, ArcGIS gives an error saying it has no elevation data. Am I missing something when I need to convert to TIFF?
