Creating points on a route

Trying to figure out how to add points on a polyline at random distances. This is a road that has culverts that are not equally distant from each other. I converted the line to a route to add the M value, but can not find a way to add points on the line without it creating multiple points at equal distances. For example, i need one point at 50 feet then another at 300 feet. The construct points editor tool was adding points every 50 feet and not just one.

Sounds like a job for Make Route Event Layer (Linear Referencing) using the POINT event type.
