In ArcScene you would just go to the extrusion tab hit the check box to extrude and set the population field as the extrusion value (or use some normalizing expression such as population/area).

Hello,

First post, so don't know if this is right format or even in the right place, but here is my question.

I'm trying to represent a shapefile of the lower 48 states based on any attribute and have the states "pop up" based on population or whatever attribute you choose and I can't figure it out. I thought you use to be able to do it in 3D Anaylst but someone said you have to do it in ArcScene. I messed around for a hour and was unlucky so I thought I would try the forums out. Thanks.

For example if you choose population, the states of New York and California would appear taller than Wyoming and South Dakota based on population. I know you can do it, I just can't figure it out. Also any inside tricks or helpful advice is always welcome. Thanks, and merry Xmas!
