topic Creating Profile Graph - Interpolating Lines and Bathymetry in 3D Questions

Rather than drawing a line using the Interpolate Line tool in the 3D Analyst toolbar I want to use an existing shape file (polyline) to define the route. I was given coordinates along the route at various points where it changes direction and joined the dots to get a polyline! How do I use this correct data rather than drawing an approximation of the line - it should be obvious but I cannot work it out. I have an underlying TIN and/or Grid already and know that by clicking the create profile graph tool it draws what I am wanting (sort of). Note this is bathymetric contours so instead of the graph showing values (which are positives) going up it should really go down with the 0 value along the x axis at the top. Do I need to relable all the contours as negative values, and if so how?
